Classroom Procedures Information
Welcome to Fifth Grade! I look forward to working with you and your child this year! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me(firstname.lastname@example.org).
Work Habits and Academics
Your child will have several assignments during the school day for which he or she is responsible. If your child for any reason is unable to complete an in-class assignment, this will automatically become homework to be completed during study hall or at home and returned to school the following day. Work not returned will result in a zero. D.O.L., Spelling, Reading, and Math tests will be administered on Friday. Students are expected to write all test dates in their agenda each week. Project due dates will be posted. Students are expected to adhere to these due dates as well. Please talk to your child about the importance of completing assignments.
Students will be assigned homework on a NIGHTLY basis. Please check your child’s agenda every night to make sure all assignments are completed. Please initial the agenda. At the bottom of the agenda there is space provided for written communication that may need to occur. Students will be expected to read at least 20 minutes every night (which will be accompanied by a Reading Log).
Study Hall is held Monday – Thursday each week during recess. It is the decision of the student to go to study hall if in need of extra help. Students with incomplete assignments must go to study hall. Once a student enters study hall, they are not allowed to go back out to recess for safety reasons.
Grades are based on percentages, which are derived from their test assessments, classwork, and class participation.
The CCSD grading scale is as follows:
A = 93 -100%
B = 85 - 92%
C = 77 – 84%
D = 70 – 76%
F = 69 % and below

The instructional fees for fifth grade are $30 per student. It is very important that these fees are paid as soon as possible. Consider paying half now and half later if the entire amount is not possible at this time.
Please do not allow your child to bring toys, electronics, and other distracting items to school. Please refer to the Student Code of Conduct for CCSD Policy on cell phones and other Communication Devices.
I have read the Classroom Procedures Information and discussed the necessary content with my child.
